The guide book offers a very good and detailed description of the route down King Pot to the Main Drain and beyond. Care is required rigging Bloodaxe Pitch as most of the spits are in bad condition. The crawl-traverse at the upstream end of Queensway is slightly more awkward on the return.

The bolts on Bloodaxe Pitch continue to deteriorate, but we spied a relatively new spit in the left-hand wall which gave a clear hang down. A pair of new fixed hangers have appeared at the top of Victoria Pitch obviating the need to use either of the old worn out spits.

On a trip into King Pot last weekend, we had an unexpected encounter with three loose boulders (stacked one on top of each other) about 1m into the narrow crawl which connects the 4m Traverse with the chamber above the Second Pitch. We gave the boulders a good kicking and they did seem to settle a bit. However, larger cavers are liable to push the lower boulder in such a way that it makes enough space for a larger boulder to drop into the crawl pinning the (unlucky) caver and/or blocking the way out.

Just to report that we had a trip down King Pot recently and we did not need to use a single spit or hanger all the way down. That should cut down on the weight of metal that people need to carry.

Becka and I had a trip down King Pot on Easter Saturday. Can confirm (as Fleur's comment implies) it is now fully P-bolted. Rope lengths remain valid. On Elizabeth Pitch we managed to get a sling threaded around stal on the back of the shaft about 1/3 the way down, as a deviation. This gives a good dry hang (otherwise the last quarter of the pitch is under the waterfall). We left the sling in place, but this could be improved if the next team takes about 3m cord to tie around a more substantial stal anchor at the same point.
