A rarely used back door trip into the Main Drain of Lancaster Hole
combined with an off-beat visit up the inlet of Maracaibo or Woodhouse
Way.
Feedback
From Paul (Beardy) Swire (RRCPC/ULSA) - 3/3/07
Woodhouse Way is a fabulous and rarely visited part of the Lancaster Hole
System with great potential for new discoveries in its far reaches. During
the last 12 years of caving from Bull Pot Farm, I had not heard of a visit
to this secluded corner of the system until 2006. I imagine only a few
visits have occurred since the original explorations in 1980. In normal
conditions the ducks rate as some of the most serious in the country,
the crux being the second duck. The squeeze just upstream of the second
duck is quite tight, but beyond the third duck the passage is varied with
some entertaining climbs and some larger passages at the end. The RRCPC/DUSA/BUSS
are currently working in the far reaches of Woodhouse Way and request
that any tackle in this area be left where it is found. Recent discoveries
here will be reported in due course.
